Description

Romantic weddings have taken place in the Blythcliffe gardens since 1857, yours could indeed be next!

The Glade at Blythcliffe is truly a romantic and beautiful setting for your ceremony. You and your guests will be surrounded by the sight and scents of our white flower beds; summer sunlight filtering through our mature trees, native birdsong, and the Balguerie stream tumbling alongside through our private native bush gardens. Loads of photo opportunities here!

The front lawn at Blythcliffe is one of the only flat lawns in Akaroa where you are in walking distance from the village and able to pitch a large marquee that holds up to approximately 120 guests. With the elegant Grade One listed Blythcliffe as your backdrop, and two terraces for your guests to be served drinks and canapes the scene is set for your perfect wedding or any other celebration you might have in mind.

Akaroa has more historically listed buildings than anywhere else in New Zealand, including St Peters Anglican Church, 1864, that’s just across the street in Rue Balguerie. The Presbyterian Trinity Church was built in 1886, and the Catholic St Patricks in 1864; both a slightly longer 5-minute walk from Blythcliffe in Rue Lavaud.

Accommodation for your guests is also under control with a Blythcliffe booking, even better – its included in our daily hire rate of $2000 per day. This price includes GST and power. We have a three-phase power supply. Please see our room descriptions for all accommodation information.

Blythcliffe is also able to supply your hired tableware, please look under the tableware tab for further information.

John and Lesley can help you to plan the wedding of your dreams, whether you have 20 or 120 guests; a large marquee or an al fresco meal under the trees.
